Support for Parents and Carers
Counselling and therapeutic support for families of anxious and neurodivergent young people

Ange McMillan
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited counsellor supervisor and trainer
Has your once happy child become anxious and withdrawn, finding it harder to go to school, see friends or enjoy the things they used to love?
Are you trying everything you can think of, only to feel like you're pushing them further away?
Do you feel like you have hit a wall, exhausted from searching for answers and feeling increasingly worried about getting things wrong?
You're in the right place

Counselling
Neurodivergent affirming counselling for anxious and neurodivergent young people. We do not require a diagnosis.
It starts with a free 20 minute consultation with me, so we can decide together whether we're right for your family, and then I match your young person with the therapist who suits them best.
Sessions are online or in person in Cardiff, Bristol and Taunton. Our team are specialists in their respective fields and have attended many years of training.
Fees:
£80 per session.
If you'd like to work with me directly, I also accept Vitality, AXA and Aviva health insurance. Please ask your provider for Angela McMillan.
£30 per session for young people who aren't currently in education or employment. This is a block of 8 sessions with me, on Mondays at 2 pm or 3 pm.

Support for you
Therapeutic coaching for parents and carers, and partners if you co parent.
Together we make sense of what is happening and plan your next steps, with referrals, signposting, strategies and service recommendations tailored to your family.
Fee:
£80 for a 50-minute session
£150 for a 1.5-hour session including a therapeutic support plan for your family.

How We Work

-
Rather than focusing on attendance, we explore the emotional, physical, relational and environmental factors that make school feel unmanageable, so we can identify what might need to change.
-
Our work follows six stages: Recognise, Connect, Listen, Understand, Meet, Engage.
-
Our work is collaborative and co-produced. Based on four years of research, pilots and workshops supporting young people and their families, who told us what they really needed.
Who leads this work
I'm Ange McMillan, an Autistic, BACP-accredited counsellor and the founder of Elemental Health.
I've spent 18 years supporting neurodivergent and anxious young people, their families and the professionals around them. I bring that experience, and my own lived experience, into every session and training day.
