Anxiety can be crippling, causing young people to avoid social situations, question their relationships with others or avoid particular places.

In this experiential workshop we will explore why anxiety is one of the top presenting issues that young people face, how it impacts and what we can do to help support those that suffer from it.

Using the latest neuroscience to help explain what happens in the teenage brain, we will explore how different types of anxiety require different approaches, identify the different methods that are most effective to deal with each type of anxiety and look at ways that we can help young people overcome their anxiety.

The workshop will include case studies, practical exercises and will show how different techniques can improve symptoms depending on the type of anxiety.

By the end of the course you will be able to explain to young people what happens in their brain when they are anxious, show them how to identify the source and triggers of their anxiety using various practical exercises, teach them how to manage their anxious feelings and thoughts, support them before and during a panic attack and help them challenge their anxiety.

The workshop includes:

  • Understanding the developing teenage brain

  • Identifying types of anxiety

  • How anxiety presents itself

  • Anxiety in young people with specific needs

  • Coping strategies for different types of anxiety

  • Best practice guidelines

  • CPD certificate
