Service Description

As more people are experiencing mental ill health it is essential that we provide an environment where it is safe to talk about mental health and to understand how early intervention can help with recovery. This course will give you the skills, confidence and knowledge to support someone who is experiencing mental health issues. The course covers: ​What is mental health? Impact of mental health issues Stigma and discrimination Depression Suicidal thoughts Anxiety Psychosis Risk factors Mental health in the workplace ​ Research and evaluation shows that taking part in an MHFA course: Raises awareness and mental health literacy Reduces stigma around mental ill health Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues Promotes early intervention which enables recovery ​ By the end of the course you will have: ​A deeper understanding of mental health ​ Have developed skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues ​ Confidence to reassure and support someone experiencing mental health issues ​ Enhanced listening skills ​ Knowledge to help and signpost to support services ​ Tools to look after your own mental wellbeing
